By wrapping the sheets around both winches it makes it easier to tighten the 
sheet by simply pulling the line in between the two winches and then taking up 
the slack on the windward side. Very effective especially if you are single 
handing.
Getting the galley wench to cross the sheets is always considered a plus. :)
