Everybody knows that I like to keep a cockpit clear of crap and that's why I don't have all the fancy gizmos that a lot of R22 owners have. I don't even have a bulk head compass. Don't need one for where I sail and never wanted one. Personally I like to lean up against the bulk heads while drinking a cold one. Well, yesterday was my birthday and my wife, being the ever thoughtful person that she is, got me a Magellan color GPS. Very neat and it has a lot of possibilities. I really like the feature that tells me how fast I'm going. I've never had any idea before now. We tried it out Saturday afternoon and came close to hull speed a few times. I think it's probably more accurate than a paddle wheel knot meter. It will probably take me a while to figure out how to use all the tools, but I like it already. RummySee the original archive post
