The discussion of grounding or not is a hot issue. I believe the consensus  
is: fresh water....don't ground....salt water...ground. There is no true 
factual  data out for either way. I have had my R22 tied to a buoy in helacious 
storms  and not a single hit on a sailboat. Houseboats at the marina have been 
hit.ever,  tied up at the dock. Many articles have been published on the issue, 
but nothing  conclusive.
