Kenny,
I know people that have solar panels and haven't had any problems with them  
after they installed a ICP battery charge controller. Personally, I removed 
mine  and installed a "Guest" 110V charger. I have two deep cycle batteries that 
keeps  my stereo going all day long.
I find the bimini to be a royal pain in the ass. It's always in the way.  
Invest in a good wide brimmed hat.
Just my 2 cents worth.
