This discussion has gotten away from the main point. The gudgeon being off  
5/16 of an inch from center IS the problem. To correct it, you will have to 
move  it so it is inline. The rudder is meant to be directly in line with the 
keel,  that's how it was designed. Repairing the bolt hole is fairly easy and has 
been  discussed on the list several times.
