Nick,
I upgraded to the IMF with battens this spring. It is a great sail. The  
additional square footage definitely helps and the batten does not affect the  
furling at all. Sailing side by side with another R22 with the standard IMF I  
was able to gain on him, noticeably. I haven't experienced any problems with the 
 sail.
