That so called unused area called the combing is where I store my rum. I  
have four 15 gallon casks on each side with a hose running into the galley from  
each cask. I draw an equal amount from each container or if I notice a change 
in  "attitude", I make adjustments accordingly. All total I keep about 80 to 
120  gallons of rum on board at any given time. I don't want to ever run out of 
rum.  I suppose fresh water could be stored there as well for extended 
journey's, but  why bother.
