Bill,
Sailing flat on a R22 IS NOT acceptable. Store the anchors where they can't  
do any damage and take your nameless boat out, climb the rails and sail her 
the  way she was meant to be sailed. Sailing flat is not only not allowed, but  
really, really boring. If your wife objects, leave her at home.
