That's exactly what I do. My solar panel got hit by a hail stone years ago 
and I only charge with shore power. With the stereo cranked and any number of 
other conveniences, I have never run out of juice. Some things are better not 
purchased at Sam's or Walmart, I chose to go with an "Interstate" battery. 
There is no way to know who manufacture's a no name battery and what the 
specifications are. I think I paid $75.00 for my battery.
