You probably have the original boom pieces that came with the boat. Back  
when your boat was made, the plastic material didn't have the UV inhibitors like  
the plastics of today. You could have a machine shop make one for you, but 
the  easiest way to replace it is by ordering one from General Boats in Edenton, 
NC,  the maker of the R22.
As Ed mentioned, they took a hit from lightening and I'm sure all means of  
communication have been fried. 
They can also make you a replacement hatch from black Plexiglas that  will 
fit the opening perfectly and add some beauty to the boat as well. Neither  
piece will come cheap as they are all hand made, but rest assured they  are what 
you will want.
