Brad,
I've used sail repair tape on several occasions on different boats and sail  
material with good enough results that kept me sailing. The key is to clean 
the  material thoroughly and apply enough pressure to make a good seal. It's a  
temporary fix and it ain't pretty. I wouldn't recommend going out in 20 mph  
winds with a sail tape repair. Use the tape on both sides of the sail  material.
