Recently, PC Magazine and Maximum PC did reviews on what they consider to  be 
bargain laptops and they both agreed that for the money, Gateway has some of  
the best products out there.
As for the Vista operating system, I am currently running it on a separate  
partition on my computer. It's taking a while to get used to it, but it really  
isn't much better or different than Windows XP (My opinion) Drivers for Vista 
 are becoming less of a problem and if you get a new laptop with Vista 
installed,  the odds are that everything will be installed and working.
