Bill,
There are many schools of thought on boat wax. If it was my boat I would  use 
the Meguiar products. Wash the hull, allow to dry and put a coat of their  
#45 boat polish and then put two coats of the #56 pure wax. This should give you 
 protection for an entire season.
Remember, dark colored hulls are prone to discoloration from UV exposure  
more so than a white hull.
