Bruce,
Place a piece of flat plywood on the cockpit floor near the base and use  a 
wide based pry bar to pry it up. Odds are pretty good that since it  rotted the 
bottom out that the thing might disintegrate into pieces. This is the  second 
base I've heard of that has rotted out. It must have something to do with  
salt water or the alcohol you keep spilling into it.
