Hamk,
Hands down it would be more secure, but mine has been in use for almost  
twenty years without a problem. This is the way most of the tracks are attached  
on the R22. If you through bolt it, then you have a head banger in the cabin 
and  it doesn't look very good. Just ask the admiral which way she would want it 
 installed.
