Perhaps in our next house I'll add a hot water pre heater to the hot water  
line. The payback on solar panels is getting better, but I'm waiting for a 
major  breakthrough in the battery storage units before I take the plunge. A lot 
of  homes in the south use solar panels to heat their swimming pools.
