Hank, The fix for this problem is simple. Normally when you apply caulking you drag the tip along the object to get a nice bead to set up. In order to get the caulk into the affected areas you need to push the tube along the joint while laying on some caulking. This forces the caulk into any voids. This is not a common problem with R22's, but this discussion has popped up from time to time.
