I know you have an Apple system, but I would assume it would function the  
same as a pc. You set up the encryption and pass phrase/code only once for each  
computer. Each time you boot your computer it shakes hands with the router  
and it allows you to connect to the network. It's stupid not to secure  your 
network. On the other hand, I often benefit from unsecured networks as I  travel.
