Dan,
The small V8 is the 4.7 liter. It works just fine pulling a big load.  
Besides the R22, we also have a Chaparral 204 which is substantially heavier  than 
the Rhodes and it tows just fine. My truck came with the factory towing  
package which gives me bigger brakes, radiator and alternator. Remember to take  the 
automatic tranny out of overdrive and you should be fine. The R22 normally  
tows like a dream. If you find the tail wagging the dog, move some weight 
inside  the boat to the bow and it should disappear. Stan also knows the best 
position  for the boat on the trailer. Any problems within the first ten miles or 
so, turn  around and have Stan reset the boat on the trailer.
