Hey Mike, I will trade you my 1988 Rhodes 22 for your Mooney and I won't even ask for any extra cash even though your plane is older than my Rhodes. Rummy In a message dated 5/9/2008 11:42:48 A.M. How I got away with this is beyond me since that day is our anniversary (our 27th), but sometimes one gets lucky. Anyway we plan to fly into KEDE and either walk or beg a ride from the FBO to get to the GBI factory. We're not planning on using the guest suite at GBI, but rather renting a Rhodes for the night after the tour and test sail. We plan on doing some cruising so I'd like us to sleep aboard to see how that works out for us. I do have more questions for the group. I'm planning on taking provisions for our anniversary dinner and anchoring somewhere to cook dinner for the Admiral and spend the night. Possible nearby anchorages look to be Salmon Creek, the Yeopim River, the Scuppernong River, or up the Chowan River near Keel Creek or Holiday Island. That's "plan A" and I'd appreciate any feedback from anyone who's used those anchorages or other suggestions. We should have most of the afternoon and early evening to reach whatever anchorage we'll use. Though we do want to spend some of that time putting the Rhodes through its paces ourselves, after the test sail with experts, to see how we handle the boat on our own. "Plan B" is to punt on anchoring out and cooking and instead dock at Edenton for dinner and possibly to overnight. It looks as if there are two options for docking - a marina west of town and the city docks. Any thoughts as to the preferability of one over the other are welcome. Finally, any suggestions as to a restaurant?See the original archive post
