I have been waiting until now to let you all know the status of the reunion next year because we had hopes that we would get some rain and the lake level would rise. We have received very little rain and our lake is now nearly 19 feet below full pool. I have no boats in the water because our new dock is all but on hard ground. The weather outlook for the winter is warmer than normal temperatures and dry weather. I guess we will have to pick another year when we actually have water beneath the dock. Historically this is the lowest the lake has ever been since it was flooded in 1961. They are predicting that we will fall below 25 feet by the first of the year. You can imagine the damage this is causing to the local economy. Boat dealers are hurting and dock company's are all but shut down. Houses on the lake are losing value and add in the crappy economy in general and you have a lot of foreclosures on what were 2nd homes. Most boat ramps have been closed for a month now, but the Corps added rock to four of them so they are somewhat usable if you have four wheel drive. Our friends, Rodger and Betty, live on their 37' Hunter and are readying it to be held in place with a rack and will move from the boat into our old house until the water returns. If you have any spare water, please send it this way. Rummy **************Plan your next getaway with AOL Travel. Check out Today's Hot 5 Travel Deals!
