Bob,
For the meager price of two bottles of rum I will come down to your house
and show you the correct way to store the companionway cover. Me thinks you are
over thinking this. Even I can do it while under the influence of a fine rum
and coke.

Rumster,
I have also tried to store the hatch this way but I obviously do not know
what you guys are talking about. I really need a better place than the
lazarette b/c on a cruise it is usually full. Can you explain it better to me, like
I'm a dumb ass?

What do you mean by putting the short side up? Is it folded when you shove
it under the seat? Are the hinges up or down? Is it forward of the coaming
compartment - as far forward as possible? Where is this mysterious slot
that supposedly hold it in place? HELP. I can't figure this one out and
everytime I hear another description it seems to be different than the previous
one. Do I need a decoder ring from GB? Maybe I need in-boat service and a
bottle or two of rum?
