Mary Lou,

I have had enough experience handling and working on the diamond board to
assure you, that is what you have. The old style board would come down much
farther. Stan was able to lower the center of effort (weight) by increasing it's
mass and surface area all at the same time. As to whether or knot it works as
advertised is up for debate. Capt. Bob Keller and I have sailed side by side
with the same exact boat with the exception of the board difference. Since
pointing ability and speed are dependent on so many factors, it is impossible
to say one is better than the other. BUT, I can kick his ass on any given
day. :) Rum Runner is just one fast boat. It must be da rum.

How 'bout that. Only took me 11 years to find out.

Question is, I still seem to recall a discussion on here though I
couldn't find it in my archives or in my very cursory search of the
list archives that the diamond board was a mid-90s option. Fretless
is a 1991, recycled in 1998. I don't think Stan did any work on the
centerboard at that time other than painting it and replacing the
pennant. There is some previous owner work on the centerboard trunk.
Wonder if the centerboard is original to the boat or a later
replacement or........ ????

Rummy, are you 100% positive about the newer and more efficient part?

Mary Lou
