Practice, practice and more practice. Gimbaled drink holders. One on each  
side off the stern rail. You have brought up an interesting point though. 
There  are times I find it impossible to find people that will crew for me. 
You might  be on to something there. Perhaps I should be more considerate for 
my  "passengers"????  Nope, that's not going to happen.

I still can't figure out how Rummy doesn't spill his  drink when both he and
his boat are sideways.  Maybe I need more  experience.
