Elle, I doubt that the crack you are showing is the problem. Remember, we are talking about a boat. With the high winds and horizontal rains, water will enter the boat from places it never thought of before. You mentioned previously that you had a problem with leaves. I believe that either leaves or debris clogged the centerboard pennant hose, water filled the seat area and simply overflowed into the cabin beneath the hatch. Your photo's seem to suggest that I'm correct in my assumptions. I wouldn't worry about it to much unless it becomes a constant problem. Then a little more research would be in order. I know on Rum Runner a roll of paper towels I left on the countertop was saturated. Only way to get there was under the pop top and that rarely ever happens. Don't worry, be happy. After the rain I found mega water in my boat....in the bilge & in the port side compartment at floor level. Deductive reasoning (ha) led me to think that there was a problem with the hole for the pennant. I found what appears to be a crack in the hole that the centerboard pennant leads through. Looking inside, I saw that a wooden support for under the companionway opening was wet....and so was the floor & the bilge was full. Here afe pix...what is the consensus...and will cleaning out the crack, opening it slightly & caulking it w/ LifeCaulk or one of its cousins solve it or am I in for a lesson in fiberglass?? Here are photos; the last few are remnants of the storm... thanks for any and all advice... elle Pix: 5988:View from inside looking aft.
