Since I'd be pulling the wires out to do this, I would think I could just run a messenger line to pull them back in when I was done. Maybe the handle was always supposed to unscrew and compress spring and therby end up turning shaft when it reached end of shaft.. dunno.. was always tight againdt the drum b4..
