Carl,
I've owned my 1988 R22 since 1992 and have been a member of this list  
almost as long. In all that time, I have never heard of those bolts being a  
problem. Ever.

hardware connected to the poptop, anyone had trouble  with the bolts pulling
out? It looks like a potential problem area, but  seems like a backing plate
right there might help that if it was even a  problem.
