Leaving it in the cradle is fine as long as the slot is down. Some added
support somewhere in the middle would assure that the mast doesn't develop a
bow while stored. It is highly unlikely that this would occur, but an ounce
of prevention is always better than having to buy a new mast.

Greetings,

We are taking our mast down and removing the sails in a few weeks.

We have transported the boat a few times and left the mast in the cradle on
the stern.

Is that the desired way to store the mast or lay it on the stern pulpit
rail or does it matter?

Removing and installing the main later would be easier with the mast down
lower.........
