WRONG. This is a small chip and I certainly wouldn't use paint. Sanding
once the gel coat repair has hardened will help it to blend in. Use a gel
coat repair kit from a marine supplier. One that is UV stabilized.

Fiberglass repair resin with glass filler already added (available at home
depot) (it has a picture of a boat on it) mix some and practice on a piece
of wood with a chunk knocked out of it. Use a plastic bondo spreader to
apply after mixing in hardner in a small pladic cup. Sand ( buy 80 100 150
and 200 , maybe a 400 grit sheets) start with the 80 and use each grit.
Sand smooth, may have to apply fiberglass a few times.
may have to get regular fibergladd resin to fill cracks. Sand, sand, sand.
Paint over repair with one of the following: white solvent based enamel,
one part rexthane, two part epoxy paint, or two part enamel.
Even A bad job wont look too bad. A good job will not even be noticed.
