Yes, now that i look back at the size of this i agree.  My plan  would be 
for a larger defect.
Paint however is a key part of upgrading and  refurbishing.  Two part LPU's 
are used by stan on old R22's and are just  the ticket for sprucing up 
faded dull scratched gel-coat.
