I'm planning on ordering a new mainsail also.  I got directed to a Doyle agent in St. Petersburg.  I tend to believe that all the R22 sails are made in Barbados regardless of which Doyle shop you order from.  Ordering from a US-based agent would avoid the import paperwork.

I got a quote of $1295 this past spring.  It'll probably be higher now due to inflation.  Can you share what price you paid?

I went straight through the Barbados loft.  A little extra paperwork since you have to do import paperwork.  They already have the dimensions for the sails.  You can email Jo, the sales manager.  You might want to wait on ordering them until after the sailing season has past.  They will give you a discount during the winter months.
