I bought a Triad Trailer from  fellow Rhodie On LI once about 8 years ago - it was a project trailer and had no title.
I fixed it and made it usable, new wheels, axel, extension bar, etc -  and used it to launch  at the beginning of the season and retrieve in the fall.
Last Fall I had to leave it at the ramp while I brought the boat to its mooring and I got a traffic ticket for an unregistered trailer.
The DMV told me I could take it to a local weigh station and get a weight certificate - them bring that to the DMV to register it.
I have yet to do that, but I will.
