The idea is to tie a line to the pop top frame and cleat it down to prevent someone from just lifting up the pop top when the companionway lock is engaged.  Not a bad idea, but a determined thief would do very expensive damage pretty easily so
I don’t bother locking the companionway. Been lucky so far.
