Hi Larry,

The 2 U-shaped channels are supposed to be drains for rain running off the port when it is mounted vertically. They don’t work as well when the port is mounted on an angle, such as the 2 front ports on the cabin roof.

Where are your ports leaking? Around the opening gasket? Or, around the base of the port? Leaks around the opening gasket will require new gaskets. Leaks around the base will be solved with your proposed fix with one caveat. You must get and keep the bead of sealant under the flange under compression from the screws. If the screws are too loose to tighten; then, that must be corrected if the fix is to have any chance of success.
